The Interchange Incorporated AGM was held on 13 November 2015 and was a great success.
The meeting was chaired by Interchange Board President, Andrew Holt, and included the election of new board member, Fred Brumhead, CEO Interchange Outer East, and re-election of current board member, Marie Lugg, Executive Officer Interchange Inner East.
Staff, volunteers and board members from across the Interchange network attended. The 2015 Jean Simpson Award was presented to Debra Donovan (Employee of the Year) and Leanne and Denis Carolan (Volunteer of the Year). The winners shared their extremely rewarding experiences of working and volunteering with the Interchange network.
Maureen Crawford’s win of the Unsung Hero Award, a category of the 2015 HESTA Community Sector Awards, was celebrated. On reflecting on the Award, Maureen shared a moving account of the motivation and drive that lead her to establish the first Interchange program.
Guest speaker was David Moody, State Manger Victoria, National Disability Services, who provided an insightful presentation on the challenges and opportunities facing both consumers and providers with the rollout out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
The program concluded with an interactive session. A panel comprised of parents of a child with a disability, Andrew Holt, Peter Marshall and Carolyn McDiarmid, discussed their personal experiences of NDIS participation, both positives and negatives, with audience participation.
